Why I Nintendo, and You Should Too!

I love Nintendo.  Ever since my brother purchased a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), I discovered a magic in gaming.  The system gave the user the ability to discover and explore new worlds that go beyond the everyday life we encounter, and this same discovery continues to even today.

After the NES, the Gameboy entered our household on which I played Super Mario Land 2:  6 Golden Coins dozens of times.  Soon afterwards, I would be playing Poke'mon Red and Blue for countless hours as I, like Ash Catchem from the just as enticing television show, tried to catch them all.  But nothing captivated me like The Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening:  my first Zelda game.  Since then, I have played and beaten every new adventure the young hero Link embarks on to save the day.

I have owned the NES, SNES, Gameboy, Pocket Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance SP, N64, Gamecube, DS, Wii, 3DS, and most currently the Wii U.  Although I had played and tried systems like PlayStation and Xbox 360, the selection of games and experiences simply could not create that same wonder and joy that Nintendo has always managed to deliver.  I was given dark, grisly first-person shooter games rather than the colorful worlds that are synonymous with Mario, Zelda, Kirby, and Donkey Kong.  Games on other systems were made out to be chores as people hope to unlock pointless extras and attain obscure achievements or trophies instead of producing smiles and endless fun that can be found in the timeless IP's that represent the Nintendo company.

In current times, many gamers like to discuss what is known as console wars between the three major gaming companies:  Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.  Recently, Nintendo (particularly the Wii U home console) has been painted as the very distant 3rd place competitor with the still fairly new Xbox One and Playstation 4 on the market; however, after a successful E3, Nintendo showed a lot of life with a wonderful presentation that delivered the excitement, laughs, and most certainly games.  A lot of good content may be on the way, but many forget the great number of games that are currently on the Wii U.  These titles include highly reviewed wonders like Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, The Legend of Zelda - Wind Waker HD, New Super Mario/Luigi Bros. U, and many more.

The Wii U has a great library right now, and the best part about the system is its backwards compatibility, allowing users to play all of their old Wii games.  I Nintendo because I know I will be jumping in a bright, enjoyable world that remembers why we play games in the first place:  to have fun!  Nintendo delivers quality game after quality game, and although the faces of the characters may be so familiar to us, they are the faces that have been with us from the start, that have seen us grow as much as we have seen them grow.  Nintendo knows games, and they have practically defined what gaming is and have continued to mold and evolve that definition to what it is today, and they will continue to do so for a long time coming.

I Nintendo because their games have been there with me from the start.
